Beaver Creek is a charming, Swiss-style Alpine village which combines the best in high-quality mountain living with a first class ski mountain, luxurious accommodations, fine-dining restaurants, and a world-class performing arts theatre and ice rink. Unique offerings in boutique shopping and art galleries featuring world renowned artists along with a championship golf course make this resort a one of a kind vacation experience.
Beaver Creek was originally conceptualized as a site for the 1976 Olympics. Despite the fact that the Olympics went elsewhere, the resort was completed and opened in 1980. Beaver Creek was one of the first ski resorts to make use of computerized ski trail design to facilitate skier movement on the mountain, thus eliminating long wait lines at the lifts.
Beaver Creek is home to three base villages – Beaver Creek Village, Bachelor Gulch Village and Arrowhead – which offer a village-to-village interconnected ski experience much like that in the Alps. It has a private, tucked away feel yet has convenient access to both Vail/Eagle Airport and Denver International Airport.
The winter skiing experience in Beaver Creek accommodates skiers of all levels. The expert skier finds steep runs, bumps, and the 3 toughest ski runs of all of the Rocky Mountains – the world renowned Birds of Prey. Beaver Creek is a regular stop on the World Cup Ski Tour and was the host of the 1997 and 1999 World Ski Championships. Intermediate and beginner skiers enjoy the high-speed chair lifts that whisk skiers up the mountain. The latest, the Larkspur Express chairlift that opened in 2006, is the fourth high-speed lift that services the mountain. Beginners can enjoy the gentle beginner terrain laid out on the top of the mountain for a true top-to-bottom ski down experience, while intermediate skiers can “swoosh” down long, perfectly pitched, carefully groomed, or powder packed intermediate runs. Beaver Creek resort offers a wide array of winter activities besides skiing, including ice skating, Nordic skiing, and snowmobiling.
Summers in Beaver Creek offer mountain biking, horseback riding, golf, and fabulous hiking trails along wildflower-studded meadows, all under the brilliant clear blue Colorado skies. An adventure for young and old is always just outside your door in Beaver Creek: year-round ice skating at the Village ice rink, splashing in the mountain stream that meanders through the village, or riding on horseback to Beano’s Cabin for dinner. Summer is a great time to try your hand at a new skill such as fly fishing or to take a jeep ride into the White River National Forest which surrounds the resort. Festivals throughout the summer offer gourmet foods, one-of-a-kind art and sculptures, and concerts from local and international musicians.
Summer and winter in Beaver Creek, Colorado offer the finest of amenities, services, privacy and family fun. It is a world-class year-round luxury mountain destination designed to make memories that will last a lifetime.
